Management Information System

Management Information System is one of six subjects that should be taken in semester 2. At first, I do not know why we need to learn this subject. I also do not know, what the relation between business and information system is. But then, after attending lectures and tutorials, now I just realized that it is quite important for us as future businessman or businesswoman. In these modern lives, all the things are using modern technology, especially in business.

In order to make their work faster, effective and efficient; people will apply those modern technology in their activity. Besides it is faster, it also can save their cost and their precious time as a businessman. They can communicate with their partners without go directly to their partner’s location. And also finish their work even they are not in the office.

In this subject, we are asked to make an application that has not been created before. Actually it is very easy, since most of us definitely have the imagination of an application that we want to make our activity easier. So, in my group, we decided to make fashion’s app where you can know someone’s style and also buy it online.

Giving the idea of this app is easy; however, we faced difficulties in making the video. Since we do not know anything how to edit, combine and cut a video. But then, my friend suggests me to use iMovie from Mac. Luckily one of my group mates is using Mac so we can use it to edit our video. Besides that, actually I am so afraid that my friend who owns the Mac will not do anything since last time when we had group assignment she also did nothing. But since we need her laptop to edit, it makes her to do the assignment since she is the one who can operate Mac. And also we can finish our assignment early before the due date. J

Business Communication

In Business Communication subject, there is a group assignment which needs to do a business report. In order to make this, we need to do an interview in a company. To make it easier, Ms. Naziha suggested choosing small company, since if it is big company it will be so hard to analysis their company. My group is so excited to do this assignment. Since we have mid semester break before the submission, we decided to do it earlier so the report can be prepared well and reach highest mark.

At first, Full House is chosen because it has a unique place so we want to know it more. And also, maybe it can be easier to know the problems and also give recommendations. But, after asking Full House and emailed the manager; they never replied it even has been waited for one week. Then we moved to another company which is Waroeng Oma. It is Indonesian cuisine restaurant in Malaysia. 

After deciding to move to another company, it made us less excited than before, because it did not go as our first plan. However, after having interview; it made us became excited anymore. Since we did the interview before holiday, we expected it can be perfectly done before the holiday ended. And also, since the owner ever became a teacher, she said she wanted to see it and can help us.

During holidays, the report was running well. Everyone did their part as they were asked. However, it only stopped till there. Do not know why, but suddenly no one try to discuss this assignment anymore. Maybe they were too busy with another assignment or with their holiday times. The due date for the business report was on the second week after midterm break. It means, it has so much time to do before the due date. But, it did not.

After revising again our parts and giving it to other group mate to check the grammar; it was stuck until here. Everyone was very busy with their others group assignment and forgot the business report. Since the business report needs to submit first before others subject; they should finish it first before continuing others subject. 

It was really disappointing. Everyone was rushed to do it a night before the due date until night changes into morning. I never imagined that it will become like that at the end. The expectation is not reached, since it was done in last minute and also there was no time to check it anymore. It just checked at a glance when wanted to submit it to the drop box. I hope it will not be happened again in the future for another assignment.

Introduction to Accounting

Reflective Journal 3

After eleven weeks attended accounting class, I have learnt so many things in introduction to accounting subject. Almost all of the chapters can be understood by me during tutorial class. However, I realize that I am really weak in plant assets and receivables chapters. At the beginning I can understand, but at the end I will get confuse and do not know everything. To prepare my final exam later, I promise to myself to study earlier and more focus. I really like accounting since senior high school so I think to focus in study accounting will not be hard for me. :)

Reflective Journal 

 

Setting a plan is a must in our life, since it makes our daily activity become more organized. It can be started from a small thing like a plan where to go or what to do. Planning is very important since it can be as our direction in every act which makes us is able to reduce uncertainty, so that we are able to minimize waste of time, money and others. 

There are two time frames of plan, first is long term plans which has time frame more than three years. Second is short term plans with time frames which only in one year or less.

Everyone in this world of course have their own dreams. They longed for something to do, owned or perceived these times or in some future time. Like everyone, I also have my own dream which is really expected to happen. Since now I have just continued my study in university, of course completing the study on time in three years is expected. I want to make my parents proud because seeing their daughter get her degree with a good result. I do not want to make them upset, especially after struggling to find money to fund my studies at Taylor’s University which is certainly not cheap.

After finishing my study, surely I want to find a good work so that can raise money and help parents to pay the education of my brothers. Besides that, I also do not forget to provide a decent life for my parents during enjoying their old age. Because it is time for them to take a break from work hard find money. And then married and have cute and smart children. 

However, before reach all of it, I realize still have to face everything in these times. At the end of this month, we will have final exam for semester one. Doing final exam fluently is my biggest plan for this year. Since semester one is started, I kept feeling unable to get through due to differences in language and still unfamiliar with the lessons which make me hard to learn everything. However, I really hope can pass it and work more hard so that can get the best result in this first semester. The next plan after that is going back to hometown.  I really that can go back as fast as I can, since already really missed my parents and brothers there.

Besides planning, to achieve a goal also need controlling. It can make us know whether our plans and goals are on target and what future actions to take.  In the process of my study, concurrent type of control will be useful since it helps me to stay focused on my goals which are completed the study within three years, obtain appropriate work and could eventually help my parents so that they do not to work again. To achieve this certainly will not be easy, it will be so many things which will interfere thus I lose my focus. 

Finishing my study on time and getting best result indirectly is a control to get a good work in the future. It means I have started to control my future which is begun from my study now which will really impact what I will become in the future.

Continuing our study in different places means we have to be separated far away and do not know when can meet again. But, I have to keep my friendship which already we built long time ago can be last forever. In this condition, keep contacting each other always being done so that we can know everything which has been happened. In this case, feedback control is applied.

The conclusion is that planning and controlling are related to each other in reaching goals. Perfect goals cannot be reached if we do not have good plans to get it and also without controls everything which has been settled will not work properly.

Introduction to Accounting

Reflective Journal 2

This is my first time having online test. While doing it, I was extremely very nervous since we are only given one hour to finish it even there are two attempts. My friend who already done it told me that she had to do the second attempt because the internet connection in her house is so bad thus made she failed. It made me become more afraid, till I encourage myself to start to do it. Since there are ten multiple choice questions and three essays, I started from multiple choice first with the easiest questions. After finish it, I continued with the essays. I really thankful since my essay’s questions am not as difficult as my friends :)
